Introduction to ES-ETH-SC09

Mitsubishi FX series PLC Ethernet adapter,is used for the communication between FX series PLC and Ethernet,Internet or 3G wireless network by the programming interface.No need to revise the communication protocol and software,support Dynamic DNS,user can remote control the PLC by the internet. The RJ45 port and RS422 interface are isolated in order to suit harsh environment in the industrial scene.

ES-ETH-SC09 is the industrial product which use the Ethernet and Internet or 3G wirelss internet to achieve Mitsubishi FX series PLC networking communication It integrates a number of complex network protocols, supports TCP Server, TCP Client, UDP unicast, UDP multicast etc many modes,.It has 10M/100M adaptive Ethernet interface and RS422 interface which meets Mitsubishi technical specifications, You only need to go on simple setting and then let the FX PLC go on Ethernet/Internet communication.

Mitsubishi FX Series PLC refers to FX0/FX0S/FX0N/FX1N/FX2N/FX3U/FX3G … …. .

ES-ETH-SC09 is an industrial grade product, its RJ45 port and RS422 interface are both isolated in order to suit harsh environment in the industrial situations. Especially each signal pin has anti-static protection and surge protection, which can effectively protect the PLC communication port from outside surges and the impact of common-mode inductance.

Notice:when the ES-ETH-SC09 is used to communicate between  the PC and the FX series PLC or between PLC and PLC, it supports the  RS422/RS485/RS232 communication which meet UART serial data communication standard. Some field buses such as PROFIBUS, PPI, MPI, CC-Link, PC-Link, etc., although the physical interface is RS485, they do not comply with the UART serial data format, so they do not apply to this product!

STEP7 Software settings：

1、 Go into STEP7 the main software programming interface（SIMATIC Manager），click “Set PG/PC Interface…” which is under the “Options” menu, and the get to the PG/PC setting interface。

2、 Double-click on “PC Adapter（Auto）”or“PC Adapter（MPI）”to go into the interface setting of parameters of RS232 and the MPI. The adapter does not support "PC Adapter (PROFIBUS)" option.

3、 Click on the "Local Connection" option to set the interface parameters of RS232, to choose the right computers COM mouth (RS232), change the RS232 communication baud rate to 19200 bps.

4、 Click the "MPI" option (if it's on "PC Adapter (MPI)" method) to set MPI interface parameters for the adapter, as the MPI interface of the adapter gets the baud rate fixed at 187.5 Kbps, so here can only be set to 187.5 Kbps.
If it is "PC Adapter (Auto)" method the choice should be "Address: 0" and "Timeout: 30s".

After the settings above the adapter can be set up on-line communication with the PLC, now you should pay attention to that you shouldn’t change the factory default of the MPI port baud rate 187.5Kpbs on the CPU which is under the “Network Settings”.

Since the baud rate of the MPI port of the adapter is fixed at 187.5Kbps, if it is set at other figures, the adapter will not work with PLC! Make sure that the baud rate of the MPI port on your S7-300PLC’s CPU is fixed at 187.5Kpbs.Otherwise,you have to use the Siemens's programming communication facility to set that baud rate to 187.5Kpbs,in order to make the adapter work correctly.

Usage of USB/PPIM+:

1, Enter STEP7 Micro / WIN programming software and click "Settings PG / PC interface", check the "PC / PPI cable (PPI)" and click "Properties…" button.
2, Select "USB" option in "Local Connection".
3, Set up the Station Parameters settings in "PPI" as following: Address: 0, Timeout: 1s .
Set up the Network Parameters in "PPI" in accordance with the needs of you. You can choose any of the following:
Advanced PPI: check the Advanced PPI.
Multiple Master Network: check Multiple Master Network.
General PPI: do not check any of option, which is the default option.
select a baud rate as the same with the PLC. If you do not know that the PLC baud rate can be arbitrary choice one.Click "OK" button to return to the main menu interface.
4, click on the main menu interface of "communication" button to enter the PLC interface connection, check the "search all baud rate" box, and then double-click on the "Double-click refresh”. After a while of searching ,the PLC model And address and other information will display on the software, it’s means that connect successfully with the PLC. Click the "confirmation" button to conduct upload, download, and other operating.

PPI Multi-Master Cable of USB/PPIM+ no longer support the early version of the low CPU21X series PLC.

PPI Multi-Master Cable of USB/PPIM+ do not support Freeport communication and MODEM communication.

Long-distance communications:

The largest communications range between the USB/PPIM+ and PLC are up to 2 kilometers (9.6K bps) or 1 km(187.5Kbps),when external plus terminals 120 ohm resistance is needed to connect between the pin3 and pin8 of the RS485 ports (DB9 Male) to eliminate signal reflection. And a PFB-G Bus Isolators is needed to install at the end of PLC. 0.22 mm2 or more unshielded twisted pair lines are used for Communications. When the distance is longer than the length of cable, a RS485 repeaters (model: E485GP), can be installed in the bus for extending the distance.

Because the power of USB / PPIM + all supplied from the USB ports of the computer, you do not need to consider power supply when extended the length of cable. It’s better than the similar products of Siemens.

USB/PPI+ programming cable simulates USB port as traditional serial port (usually COM3), which enables existing programming software(STEP 7-MicroWin) to communicate through simulated traditional port and PLC devices.

The working power supply of this cable is from the USB port and PLC programming interface. The two-color LED on the converter box indicates data’s transceiving status.

The setting of driver procedure

Please set the driver procedure according to the following steps:

1. Turning on PC power that will connect the USB programming cable and make sure the USB port working well.
2. Put the USB programming cable into USB port and Windows will detect the device and help to add new hardware and jump to new device setting. Insert the driver CD and click “next” to continue, or select the driver on the hard disk.

If Windows does not show “Found New Hardware Wizard”, please click “Universal Serial bus controllers” in the hardware list of device manager, and choose the USB device with question mark. Click the right key of mouse and operate to update driver procedure.
