System requirement
Please make sure your PC is IBM PC compatible and has the following
system requirements before using the USB programming cable.
● Intel is compatible with 586DX4-100MHz CPU or higher
● A standard USB port (4-pin A plug)
● Operating system is Windows2000 or Windows XP

Usage:
USB device drivers should be installed before using USB/MPI+ programming cable. After completing Driver installation, the corresponding COM port for the USB/MPI+ programming cable will be displayed in the  Device Manager of Window. The step next is just to choose this COM port in the programming software and other application software and keep other communication parameters as in the Default settings. And the following steps are exactly the same as in the traditional programming cables with RS232 interfaces. Here are requested to indicate that “USB” option in the local communications interface setting which the software is not support to the programming cable.

If the COM port in the programming software with “*” symbols, such as “* COM3″, it’s shown that the COM port have faults. Quit the software and plug a USB plug or re-install the USB driver.

Please note that Siemens COM port in programming software is up to support the option to COM8.But the ports more than COM8 are able to choose but in fact can not be used!

STEP7 software settings:
Enter the main interface of STEP7 programming software (SIMATIC Manager), click on the “Set PG / PC Interface ” option under “Options” menu into the PG / PC interface settings.

1, Double-click on “PC Adapter (MPI)” to set the parameters of COM port and MPI port. The adapter does not support “PC Adapter (PROFIBUS)” option.

2, Click on “Local Connection” option to set the parameters of COM port, correct choose the COM port in the equipment manager after the driver of USB / MPI + USB has been installed, select the 19200 bps or 38400 bps as the baud rate of COM Communication. USB / MPI + will automatically adapt to the choice of baud rate.

3, Click “MPI” to set the parameters of MPI interface adapter options, baud rate can be set to 187.5 Kbps, or 19.2 Kbps, USB / MPI + adapter will automatically adapt to the MPI port of the PLC baud rate. Other parameters set as default.

4, On-line test can access the points: USB / MPI + connect the MPI port of the S7-300/400PLC with the computer’s USB port. Click on the main menu interface, as shown in a red circle button. If the data in red box is shown as the picture, the on-line test has pasted. As so far, the setting has completely finished. It can do all Operation such as upload, download ,monitoring of the procedures and other operations.

Long-distance communications:

For USB/MPI+, the largest communication distance is up to 1000m at the communication speed of 187.5Kbps. It needs to splice 120ohm terminal resistance between 3 and 8 pin on the RS485 port(DB9 Male) to eliminate signal reflection, and connect 24VDC power between 7 and 2 pin. But requires one PFB-G for each PLC.

Please Note: USB interface cable cannot be extended.

Setting of LOGO!Soft-Comfort
After completing the driver installation,In the Windows Device Manager will come up the COM port of USB-CABLE programming cable,just in the programming of software or other software applications,selecting the COM port.And the follow applyment is exactly the same as the traditional RS232 programmng cable.
Open the main windows form(LOGO!Soft-Comfort),choose “Tools” menu then click “Options…” sub menu and will appear Options setting window.
Select “Interface” Item in the left list,and Choose the COMX interface as it in the Device Manager.

STEP7 Software settings:

1、 Go into STEP7 the main software programming interface(SIMATIC Manager),click “Set PG/PC Interface…” which is under the “Options” menu, and the get to the PG/PC setting interface。

2、 Double-click on “PC Adapter(Auto)”or“PC Adapter(MPI)”to go into the interface setting of parameters of RS232 and the MPI. The adapter does not support “PC Adapter (PROFIBUS)” option.

3、 Click on the “Local Connection” option to set the interface parameters of RS232, to choose the right computers COM mouth (RS232), change the RS232 communication baud rate to 19200 bps.

4、 Click the “MPI” option (if it’s on “PC Adapter (MPI)” method) to set MPI interface parameters for the adapter, as the MPI interface of the adapter gets the baud rate fixed at 187.5 Kbps, so here can only be set to 187.5 Kbps.
If it is “PC Adapter (Auto)” method the choice should be “Address: 0″ and “Timeout: 30s”.

After the settings above the adapter can be set up on-line communication with the PLC, now you should pay attention to that you shouldn’t change the factory default of the MPI port baud rate 187.5Kpbs on the CPU which is under the “Network Settings”.

Since the baud rate of the MPI port of the adapter is fixed at 187.5Kbps, if it is set at other figures, the adapter will not work with PLC! Make sure that the baud rate of the MPI port on your S7-300PLC’s CPU is fixed at 187.5Kpbs.Otherwise,you have to use the Siemens’s programming communication facility to set that baud rate to 187.5Kpbs,in order to make the adapter work correctly.

1. Double clicking on “PC Adapter(MPI)” into the RS232 interfaces and MPI set of parameters. The adapter does not support “PC Adapter(PROFIBUS)” option.

1, PLC and computer connections for the PPI or free Communication, programming:
Insert the PC / PPI + cable’s RS485 plug into the programming mouth of S7-200PLC and the RS232 plug into the computer’s RS232 port. Chose the corresponding number of the COM port. Switch the 10bit, 11bit selection switch to 11 bit. The baud rate of the PC/PPI+ cable is adaptive from 0 to 115.2kpbs. There is no need to set that.
2, The long-distance communications between PLC and computer:
When having long-distance communications, the PC / PPI + requires additional external power and we should parallel 120Ωi end resistance n between the 3, 8 of RS485 plugs to eliminate signal reflection, as shown below:
